Well, it was just meant to be a starting point, I also tinker with the settings, or change them now and then.
Fortunately, the menus of the older and newer Olympus and OM System cameras are largely the same.
Totally agree on the Jpeg’s, that’s also something I’ve never understood.

Though the menu is different on the OM1, these settings pretty much apply to it as well out of the box. There are a couple of things I do differently just from personal preference. It is odd and baffling that Olympus / OM don’t have Jpeg set to Super Fine out of the factory!

Well, Fuji is great for pretty much everything, but your E-PL8 proves the image quality is good. For bird and wildlife photography you might find better than Olympus, but certainly more expensive and undoubtedly a lot heavier to carry.
