Olympus E-M1 Mark II, Mark III and E-M5 Mark III Remote Cable Release Alternative

A maybe less used accessory, but certainly a useful one, is the remote cable release.
Very useful for Macro photography, but also for Landscape and Astro photography.
For the Olympus cameras E-M1 Mark II & III and the E-M5 Mark III, that is the Olympus RM-CB2, which costs around €60.

Coincidentally, the Canon RS60-E3 cable release has exactly the same 2.5mm jack connection and also works on it.
For about € 20 it is in any case a lot cheaper.

But there are even more alternatives, such as the JJC MA-J2 and also the electronic version JJC Model: TM-J2.

The electronic version has more features, but you will rarely use it, the problem with batteries is that they are usually empty when you need them, you forgot them or even worse they leaked.
In addition, batteries are not environmentally friendly.

The wired version and a good watch with seconds indication can also be used for timer recordings.
So, if you’re looking for a cheaper version of the Olympus RM-CB2, look for the Canon RS60-E3 or other versions of the latter.
