PictureFX NTFLX DRK I & II
Two new 3DL cube files based on the popular Netflix series DARK.
Below some test results made in Darktable – Opacity 100%
The LUTs are based on Color Grading extractions from the Netflix Dark series.
Rather than work with “Recipes” I use LUTs,
Personally, I love recipes, however, the biggest drawback is that they are (basically) applied to every photo you take.
Let me explain : you set a certain recipe on your camera – you set your camera to jpg only (isn’t that the trend these days?) – and you start photographing -> result: all jpgs are adjusted according to the recipe – unless you use a different recipe every time you shoot, but I find that rather complicated, don’t you?
As a result, I actually still shoot jpg and raw – set an original Fujifilm recipe for the jpgs and edit some raws afterwards to taste with a LUT.
Also the extent to which I can adjust a photo with a LUT without getting strange phenomena on the result goes much further than with a recipe.
Yes, it’s all more work, editing afterwards, but isn’t that part of what photography is all about? the developing”.
Anyway, LUTs are it for me!
Don’t forget: you can also set the extent to which the LUT adjusts your photo via a slider or layer.
RawTherapee – Artherapee Users !
To Rawtherapee and Artherapee users, no I haven’t forgotten you – in fact, my main photo editing program is still Rawtherapee, I don’t think there is a better one for RAW.
So, for us RT and AT users a LUT should be a PNG, and it can be, for this I use the converter below – start the online application – upload the cube file to be converted – convert to PNG – and download on the next page.
Buying the latest camera model may not always be the best choice.

As written in the beginning, a slightly thinner edition than usual – although my intention was always to publish less in the end.
What used to be weekly, sometimes even twice a week, with the monthly OSP Magazine I intended to group one, two or a maximum of three articles.
Anyway, I always try to keep it interesting for a wide audience.
An additional problem is that I currently have a tennis elbow, so it is painful to write lot of text on the computer.
A bit frustrating is that I actually have more than one project running for the OSP Magazine – in fact even from the beginning of March, unfortunately something always comes up, test material is not delivered, an outbreak of Covid, Monkeypox,.. what else are they going to send us? Elephant feet ?
One of those projects is telephoto lenses.
The intention is to make a kind of Review about some different options for Fujifilm X and Olympus m4/3. Some with dedicated mount and some with universal mount.
For this I ordered some lenses especially for the project, what is useful I will eventually keep, the rest I will sell.
One of those lenses is the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm f/4.0-6.3 ASPH Power OIS, with which I recently took this picture of the moon – click on picture to see at full resolution (4608 × 2592) – then click “i” on the right side – below click “view full size” – sometimes wordpress struggles a bit, and still gives the reduced version I noticed – a bug so – just try again and usually it works.
It’s one of the sharpest pictures I’ve taken of the moon so far.
And read well: taken from hand at 1/200th with an ISO of 200,
and that with an 800mm (equivalent to 35mm).
Yes, it was an Olympus E-M5 Mark II, it’s a great camera for nature and wildlife photography.
