The turnout for the poll was a bit low, but it probably wouldn’t have made much difference—the results are clear:
- Yes: 64.29%
- No: 21.43%
- Not Sure: 14.29%
These numbers show there’s definitely interest. Have companies like Fujifilm with their X-T and X-E series, or Nikon with the Df camera, missed an opportunity? Fujifilm, at least, enjoyed a period of great popularity, but it doesn’t seem to have lasted.
The real question is whether every photographer truly benefits from a 40-megapixel camera packed with features. It seems like manufacturers are mainly competing in this spec-driven race, but does it address what photographers actually want? Judging by these poll results—and of course, not all photographers are the same—it looks like there’s a demand for something different.
Will things change? Will we see something new? Only time will tell.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the poll!
By the way, I have a few more articles lined up for today—hope you enjoy them!
