Does anyone remember them from the SLRs of the past ? Those leather things that protect your camera from scratches?
Well, I still have some old 35mm SLRs lying around and a few of those thingys on them.

Nowadays it’s those hard plastic things that you push or click over the triangular hooks, the original camera strap goes through, but nothing else. No paracord wrist strap or anything, because that’s way too thick.
For me it’s important that hooks belts and other things do not make noise when photographing birds and other wildlife.
Those old school leather protectors are great for that – so let’s just make them ourselves.

Maybe you also have such a leather thing lying around somewhere to use as model
If not, it doesn’t have to be exactly the same,
and you have an example here.
You also need a piece of (fake) leather, everyone has something that is worn out and needs to go, such as leather gloves, seat covers, etc. – you can recover a piece of that. But you can also find this in DIY stores or fabric shops.
Draw the shape on a piece of leather, cut it out, and make holes in it as shown in the photo.

You can also use a different shape, such as the one with two holes instead of three. With two or three holes at the end, a belt can easily go through, you can also simply make a cut with a cutter knife, instead of holes.

To connect your camera belt, you can use mini carabiners at the end, then you can easily remove the belt if necessary.
Those carabiner hooks can be found in specialty stores that sell fishing gear, survival stuff and other outdoor gear. It’s just to give you ideas. I have bought several camera straps myself, but there is always something that I don’t like so much. So why not come up with the best solution ourselves.

This is how it looks like :

Die heb ik ook nog ergens, van carry speed, de koppeling kwam steeds los bij mij. En Peak Design, zware en stevige riem, maar daar braken de camera connectors gewoon af, waren ook maar heel dunne draadjes. Maar, als het werkt voor je, dan moet je niets veranderen, ik zit gewoon teveel tussen het struikgewas denk ik 🙂
