PictureFX Pro Base Tone Curve – Cube/Lut for Adobe, Rawtherapee, Luminar …

Probably the most important part in RAW development : the “Tone Curve”.

Technically, this new PictureFX Tone Curve is not a Film Simulation, however, it has been developed for en is part of the PictureFX Pro Fujifilm Color series.
This specific Curve has been further fine-tuned since then, and is now intended as a starting point prototype for the new Nostalgic Negative & Fujifilm Superia that is yet to be developed. It is tested and tuned on multiple Non Fuji and Fuji pictures of my own.

For the new PictureFX Nostalgic Negative, and its big brothers Fujifilm Superia 200/400, I have a page with the Development Timeline here.
Don’t imagine too much of it, for me it is a kind of calendar/notebook of what is still on the To Do list and planning. It gives you a bit of an insight into what it takes to make a film simulation, and also a bit of an idea on how long it will take to finally publish them here for download.

When I finished the curve I reminded an article written by my friend Mark G. Adams: “The importance Of Presets And Luts” and then I thought that this Curve was actually an ideal starting point for Basic Development, because that is what it is ultimately intended for.

Although this curve is not intended as a “one click” picture enhancer, but to bring your pictures to a point where fine tuning or applying your own style the picture completes,
it may be enough for many people to apply a small exposure correction and that’s it.

The Curve has been converted into Haldclut and Cube format, so you can use it in your workflow on RawTherapee, Artherapee, Darktable, Adobe CS6 and higher, Luminar, Premiere … just use it as any normal Film Simulation Lut / Cube.
Both can be downloaded here:
