Hello everyone! After a 14-day break, we’re back and ready to dive into a new year of photography. Taking a social media detox was refreshing—it’s easy to forget there’s a real life beyond the little or big screens. Stepping into the real world and connecting with actual people always feels great. Not that the digital world isn’t real, but you get what I mean. Anyway, let’s get started!
As we welcome the new year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and engagement with my work. Whether you’ve been following my photography, reading my articles, or simply sharing in the joy of creativity, your presence means a lot to me.
May 2025 bring you plenty of moments to capture, explore, and enjoy. Here’s to new adventures, fresh perspectives, and a year full of inspiration!
What to Expect from Open Source Photography in 2025?
Throughout 2024, I’ve gathered valuable insights and tips from friends and loyal readers—ideas worth exploring further and suggestions to make my website more engaging and enjoyable. Here’s what OSP will look like in 2025:
- Shorter, to-the-point articles: Clear and concise content, respecting readers’ time.
- Reading time indicators: Know at a glance how long it takes to read.
- Larger photos, faster load times: Striking visuals without the wait.
- Podcast compilations: Listen to articles instead of reading them.
- More nature-focused photography: Birds, wildlife, macro, and beyond.
- Deep dives into open-source software: Explore tools and techniques.
- Gear and related topics: Reviews, tips, and inspiration.
To kick off 2025, I’m introducing my very first podcast, and it ties directly into the first article of the year. This podcast gives you a glimpse of how future episodes about OSP articles will look. It might feel a bit unusual at first, but give it a try! The great thing about podcasts is that you can listen anytime, even while multitasking. It’s a fresh way to follow blogs while you are busy with other things and still stay connected.
The podcasts are entirely AI-generated. Here’s how it works: I provide AI access to my self-written articles in Dutch, like the one above. AI analyzes them and creates a podcast compilation—sometimes with surprising results!
Happy New Year!
Marc

Welcome back Marc. Glad you had a good break. Just getting away from the media must have been refreshing. All the best for a Happy Healthy 2025. I am exploring a different camera this year and the jury is still out on how that will go. Looks like a bit of a learning curve. Cheers. Allan

Happy New Year and roll on 2025. 🙂 Hope to see more wildlife images in the future. I have to admit they’re my favourite.

Wishing you all the best, especially good health and a wonderful New Year! Wildlife photography will largely depend on climate change—something I already noticed significantly last year. I’m curious to see what the coming year will bring in that regard.
