Bicycle Bridge with Olympus TG Tracker

Today, we embark on a cycling journey across the iconic ‘Parkbrug Spoor Noord’ in Antwerp, capturing every moment with the Olympus TG-Tracker—a compact action camera that has quickly become my trusted companion.

Our adventure begins beneath the ‘Dokmarkt’ shed at ‘Napoleonkaai’, In that section, the street is still paved with cobblestones, so the video begins with vibrations and shaking on the stones. But surprisingly—at least in my eyes—it’s not bad at all ! . From there, we head towards the apartment building at number 1 on ‘Entrepotkaai’, weaving between two blocks to reach the bicycle bridge nestled behind them. This path forms a loop, guiding us onto the bridge itself.

Crossing the bridge, we enter an area once dominated by rail yards and warehouses. Today, it’s a vibrant green space where individuals and families stroll and play. Personally, I found it delightful to loop back and experience the bridge a second time 🙂

Throughout this ride, the Olympus TG-Tracker was securely mounted to my bike’s handlebar, capturing the journey in stunning 4K at 30fps. Despite its compact size—measuring just 93 x 57 x 35 mm and weighing 180 grams—the TG-Tracker boasts impressive features. Its ultra-wide 204° f/2.0 lens ensures expansive coverage, ideal for dynamic activities like cycling.

Notably, the TG-Tracker is built to withstand the elements. It’s waterproof up to 30 meters, shockproof from heights of 2.1 meters, freezeproof down to -10°C, and crushproof under weights up to 100 kilograms. This durability means it can handle the bumps and jolts of a bike ride without any additional protective housing.

While the camera offers digital 5-axis image stabilization, my setup relied solely on the hard mount, with no hardware stabilization. Despite this, the footage remained remarkably steady, a testament to the camera’s design. I edited the video using Shotcut, selecting a short segment of the total recording. The visuals required no color grading, reflecting the TG-Tracker’s capability to produce vibrant, true-to-life footage straight out of the camera.

To complement the visuals, I chose ‘Walking Home’ by Alex Productions as the soundtrack, adding a rhythmic backdrop to the serene scenes of Antwerp.

Incorporating the Olympus TG-Tracker into my cycling adventures has been a revelation. Its compact form, robust build, and exceptional video quality make it an ideal companion for capturing the essence of the ride, allowing me to relive each moment with clarity and joy.

You might think there’s a lot of money to be made from creating clips like these, but trust me, the reality is quite the opposite—it actually costs money. So why does anyone do it? Well, it’s like photography: if you love singing or making music, you’re willing to invest in it. To even have a chance of earning something, you first need to stand out, and for that, you need at least 1,000 subscribers—something we’re still far from. So… what’s holding you back ? !

    1. Hey Barrie, thanks! Sorry to hear your health isn’t great. I’ve been dealing with some back and pelvis issues myself, but my doctor actually advised me to keep cycling—so I’m doing my best to stick with it!

I’ve had Fuji cameras too—several, in fact, including the X-H1, X-T1, and X-T20. Great cameras, no doubt, but just not the right fit for what I do—birds, nature, and so on. Making the switch wasn’t easy, especially since I had just moved from Pentax to Fuji, but now I’m really happy working with Micro Four Thirds.
      Have a great weekend, Barrie!
