Two New Luts Update – PictureFX J.S. Style Ethereal Purple and Pink

The Luts and the Style :

The last two Luts from the PictureFX J.S Style series, Purple and Pink Ethereal.
I was searching for photos of Bluebells when I first discovered Jo’s Ethereal photos, they were the first thing I really liked about her remarkable style. These photos eventually led me to Flickr and then to her website.

Dreamy is the word that comes to mind when you see the photos.
Soft pastel-colored photos, like fine pen drawings, subtle watercolors or paintings.

The Process :

Sometimes a special style of shooting applies, for instance flowers are sometimes photographed from a very low point of view, so that you get the sky as a background. The backlight then forces you to boost your exposure resulting in a high key like (dreamy) photo.

Sometimes it is necessary to adopt someone’s style to find your own.
But also for advanced photographers it is sometimes useful to learn and try new things, in order to eventually grow as a photographer.

Software :

Jo works with different types of software to obtain her results.
But you don’t have to buy Photoshop, Lightroom, Nik or Camera Raw to get similar results.
Everything is possible in Gimp, and in combination with Darktable it’s like having Photoshop and Lightroom for free ! Even with Darktable only you can get far, below are some examples of edits you can use in Darktable.
