As the holiday season draws near, I’m wrapping up the final posts of the year. Recent weeks have been dedicated to bird and wildlife photography, and this Friday, I’ll publish one last article to close out the series.
In addition, I’ve added a new gallery post focused on wildlife photography. You’ll find the link below. Looking ahead, I plan to further integrate the gallery with the main website in 2025. While it will remain a separate section, my goal is to create a more seamless connection with Open Source Photography, a vision I’ve been refining over the past six months. The progress so far has been encouraging.
A Handy Tool for Lens Lovers
While working on these projects, I stumbled upon an excellent resource: Lensfinder.org. It’s a treasure trove for lens enthusiasts, offering a well-organized catalog of lenses from various brands. The site sorts lenses into categories and provides concise reviews for each.
What sets it apart is the detailed product overviews, complete with photos and key specifications. Whether you’re comparing options or researching your next purchase, it’s an invaluable tool for making informed decisions.
A Quiet Year for Big Releases?
2024 came with big expectations from the rumor mills—groundbreaking cameras and lenses were forecasted. But so far, reality feels a bit underwhelming. Yes, OM System launched the OM-1 MKII and the impressive (albeit pricey) 150-600mm lens, but other models have quietly disappeared. The E-M10 MKIV and the last stock of the E-PL10 have vanished from shelves, signaling the end of an era.
What’s on the horizon for 2025? Could we finally see a new OM System Pen-F? Perhaps a refreshed lineup of entry-level OM-10 cameras? And will the iconic Pen series make a comeback? Time will tell.
One thing seems certain: OM System can’t afford to stand still. With Panasonic ramping up its offerings and other brands releasing bird and wildlife photography gear, the competition is fiercer than ever.
Don’t miss Friday’s final post of the year, and happy holidays in advance !
Marc.
